Services Covered by the Medical Insurance

    All students are encouraged to have medical insurance coverage. The pre-paid Student Health Fee pays for most services delivered at the Student Health Center only. If a student requires referral to an outside health care facility, is in need of emergency care or hospitalization, a medical insurance plan would assist with payment of these potentially expensive services.

 The Student Health Center can assist students with processing claims to insurance companies when the service was provided by Student Health. The student just needs to tell the cashier (in Student Health) they would like us to process a claim. The student will need to sign a form allowing us to release information about the visit to their insurance carrier.

 
 

     University Sponsored Insurance

Domestic and International Students

     The University of Missouri has made available to its students and their dependents, a plan of blanket accident and sickness insurance, underwritten by Aetna Life Insurance Company. The coverage is designed to provide benefits for medical expenses arising from an injury or sickness including those that occur off campus and during interim vacations. Graduate Students

     Graduate students who hold a teaching assistantship or a fellowship may qualify for the Graduate Health Insurance Subsidy Program. Enrollment in the insurance takes place when registering for classes and is listed under "optional charges". Students who have already registered for classes and want to enroll in the insurance should call Jesse Hall Cashier's Office at 882-3097 to sign up.

 To receive the subsidy for the insurance premium, you will need to complete a GMISP form after you have enrolled in the insurance as explained above. Information about the GMISP can be found at the following web address:
