Three ways to get out of a rut

1. Commit publicly – Letting your friends on social media know, “Hey, anyone want to join me on a bike ride? I’m hitting the trail this afternoon,” makes you more committed, even if no one else takes you up on the offer. Snap a picture of you staying committed to your goals and share it so your friends can hold you accountable.

2. Read about it everyday – Look at the hashtag #MizzouFit and other similar hashtags for motivation. We have a great community at Mizzou posting lots of unique ways to get active!

3. Set a small goal, and accomplish it – “My goal was to finish and not finish last, which I did!” wrote @rachaelmarlar, a MizzouFit participant, about her first 5k experience. Achieving small goals helps frame the way you see yourself in all aspects of life – as a winner.

Bonus tip: Get support when you need it – If you need more tips or just can’t seem to get moving, talk with one of our certified health coaches about creating a plan to stay active. Call 573-884-WELL (9355) for an appointment.
