Psychiatry

The Health Center offers psychiatry services to enrolled MU students. All of our psychiatrists are affiliated with the University of Missouri Department of Psychiatry. Our attending psychiatrists are board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and are experienced in working with the college population. Our psychiatrists collaborate with psychologists, social workers, primary care physicians, advance practice nurses, nurses, dieticians and other health care professionals at the Health Center to provide MU students comprehensive health care.

Our staff specializes in:

  • depression
  • anxiety
  • bipolar
  • ADHD
  • substance abuse
  • eating disorders

We offer:

  • diagnostic psychiatric assessments
  • medication evaluation prescription and management

Your initial visit with the psychiatrist is one hour with 30-minute follow-up visits.

If you have been previously diagnosed or prescribed psychotropic medication, please sign a release of information form and bring it with you to your appointment or contact your prior treatment providers to get those medical records before your initial appointment. Prior medical records can be faxed to (573) 884-1811. When appropriate, referrals may be made to other staff members as well as to outside resources.

Sometimes, the management of long-standing, chronic and/or complex psychiatric conditions is beyond the scope and/or capabilities of our service, our short-term treatment model and our available psychiatric resources. In this event, referrals may be made to outside resources.
