MU is proud to officially unveil the “You Have a Voice” violence awareness campaign! Over 100 of MU’s student, faculty and staff leaders have joined together to help raise awareness about relationship violence and sexual assault by contributing to the “You Have a Voice!” campaign. 1 in 4 women and 1 in 6 men will be sexually assaulted during their life, usually by the time they’re 18 years old. Seeking out help and resources is a difficult task and it can be made even more difficult if the resources are not widely and openly available. It’s time to give a Voice to an issue that all too often remains silenced. The You Have a Voice! Campaign has two primary functions:
All of the advocates featured in the campaign have undergone a violence education training that helps them to recognize the signs of abuse and violence, as well as what they can do to help. They’ve been informed about the resources available on campus and in the community and are willing to serve as advocates who can help to point survivors in the right direction and give them the support they need to seek out help.
