Other Insurance Things You Might Want to Know
After a medical visit to a provider, University Physicians billing office prepares your medical bill and sends charges to the designated insurance carrier. The University of Missouri Health Care applies fair billing and collection practices to all who seek their services.
The policy holder or designee (student) then receives an explanation of benefits (EOB).
When the amount of the policy’s annual deductible has been paid (out-of-pocket), insurance payment will begin.
Actual medical bills will not be charged to the student university account.
It is the student’s responsibility to contact the insurance carrier concerning coverage of medical care while away from home.
Insurance is required for all international students, regardless of the number of credit hours.
Insurance is strongly recommended for domestic students.
Insurance can help pay for the expensive medical services in the urgent care, emergency room and hospital.
